Ruud Cuijten

Ruud Based in Thailand is an all-round fisherman whose life has revolved around water, travel, and the pursuit of powerful fish across the globe. Fishing since childhood, he has built decades of hands-on experience spanning carp fishing, catfishing, and big-game angling. His passion has taken him to 19 different countries, and he never travels without a fishing rod.

Ruud has completed multiple expedition-style trips, including the mighty Essequibo River, Guyana in 2022, 2025 and 2026, Brazil, Borneo, and extended stays in Thailand. During his 2025 Guyana trip alone, he landed 32 different species, highlighting his adaptability and technical range. His most memorable catch to date is a massive Redtail Catfish, with a fierce Payara ranking close behind. While he values every species, he especially enjoys the raw fight of aggressive fish—whether it is an explosive catfish run or a hard-charging Payara on a lure.

A dedicated catfish angler at heart, Rudy thrives on the adrenaline of the unknown bite. His specialty lies in all-round fishing, with a constant focus on refining bait presentation and testing gear. Though rarely active online, his practical knowledge and results led to published articles and ongoing content collaboration with a Dutch fishing platform. Above all, he fishes for the challenge, the learning, and the unforgettable moments that only wild waters can deliver.
